Pass-a-Grille Jetty Fishing

Pass-a-Grille Jetty is the short rock jetty, with a concrete walkway along its top, at the southern tip of St. Pete Beach, where Gulf Way ends at Pass-a-Grille Channel. The channel funnels tide between the Gulf and lower Tampa Bay, so the jetty and the beach beside it hold snook through the warm months, sheepshead and mangrove snapper on the rocks, redfish and pompano along the surf, and Spanish mackerel when bait pushes in. Fish the moving tide at dawn or dusk, especially the outgoing. Pay-by-plate parking along Gulf Way is steps away. The walkway is narrow, the rocks beside it are slippery, the channel current is strong and boat traffic is heavy, and the city bans wading and swimming off the tip.
