Herman's Bay Beach Fishing
6.1· Beach· Ocean Breeze, FL
Herman's Bay Beach is a one-acre St. Lucie County beach park on South Ocean Drive on the Jensen Beach end of Hutchinson Island, with a dune crossover, three covered pavilions, picnic tables and a small paved lot. The county lists fishing among its activities. It is a quiet, uncrowded stretch of Atlantic surf, and the island's beaches here are known for a near-shore reef that holds fish in the trough close to shore. Expect whiting, pompano and bluefish in the surf in the cooler months, and snook working the trough from mid-summer into early fall when bait is thick. Sand fleas and shrimp on a pompano rig are the standard bait, and a jig or plug covers the snook. Fish the low light of dawn and dusk. The park is open dawn to dusk. Watch rip currents and summer lightning.
