Keaton Beach Fishing

5.5· Beach · Taylor County, FL

Also called Hodges Park

Keaton Beach's public waterfront is Hodges Park, a small Taylor County beach and picnic area on the shallow grass flats of the Big Bend, south of Perry on County Road 361. Shore anglers wade the grass and cast along the canal mouth for speckled trout, redfish and sheepshead, with Spanish mackerel, cobia and ladyfish in the warm months and a strong fall trout run. The community was devastated by Hurricanes Idalia (2023) and Helene (2024), and the county fishing pier at Hodges Park may not be usable, so plan to fish from the beach and the shoreline and check locally. A rising tide on a calm morning fishes best. Hazards are oyster bars, stingrays and summer lightning.
