Riverside Park, New Smyrna Beach Fishing
6.0· Seawall· New Smyrna Beach, FL
Riverside Park is an eight-acre city park on the Indian River at the east end of State Road 44 in downtown New Smyrna Beach, and the riverbank here is a handy walk-up fishing spot. Visitor material says fishing is popular along its boardwalk and fishing pier, with dolphins and manta rays often seen. The water is brackish, shallow lagoon with grass, shell and dock pilings nearby, so anglers fish for spotted seatrout, redfish, black drum, sheepshead and mangrove snapper on light tackle with live shrimp. The Indian River moves little with the tide, so wind and light matter most. The park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and has restrooms and a playground, which makes it a good family stop. Watch for boat wakes and summer thunderstorms.
