Bayou Cassotte Pier is a Jackson County pier and boat ramp at the east end of Ladner Road on Pascagoula's east side, on Bayou Casotte, the deep industrial ship channel that serves the port and refinery district before opening into the Mississippi Sound. It is not scenic, but deep, salty water close to shore is rare on this coast, and an earlier state inventory recorded two fishing piers here. Expect speckled trout, white trout and redfish along the channel edges, black drum and sheepshead around pilings, croaker and catfish in summer, and flounder on the muddy shoulders in fall. Fish shrimp on the bottom or under a cork, and cut bait for drum. Large ships and tugs use the channel, so keep lines short when they pass and stay well back from the edge.
