McInnis Bayou Pier is a Jackson County pier and boat ramp at the foot of Hemlock Avenue in Moss Point, just north of Griffin Road, on McInnis Bayou where it feeds the East Pascagoula River. The county rebuilt the launch in 2014 with a new bulkhead and piers, and reopened it for boaters, fishermen and crabbers. The water is brackish marsh and river, so the catch follows the salinity: speckled trout, redfish, flounder and black drum when the river is low and salty, catfish and freshwater fish when it floods. Blue crabs are a popular catch too. Fish live shrimp under a cork or on a light bottom rig along the bulkhead, and drop a crab net while you wait. It is a small neighborhood launch; give boaters room and watch for summer storms.
