Fairhope Municipal Pier Fishing

7.4· Pier· Fairhope, AL

Fees vary: Free to walk and fish the pier; non-residents pay park and beach admission in summer (checked Oct 17, 2026)

The Fairhope Municipal Pier runs 1,448 feet out into Mobile Bay from the city's waterfront park at the west end of Fairhope Avenue, and it is the best-known place on the Eastern Shore to fish from a deck. Walking and fishing it costs nothing, though anglers need a saltwater license, and in summer non-residents pay admission to the park and beach. Speckled trout, white trout, croaker, redfish, black drum, flounder and catfish all came over the rails at a kids tournament held on the pier in June 2026. Fish live shrimp under a cork or on the bottom, and work soft plastics at first light. The bay here is shallow and often murky, and the wind moves the water more than the small tide does. Leave the open deck when summer lightning starts.
