Blind Pass, Sanibel–Captiva Fishing

6.8· Inlet · Sanibel, FL

Free: No entrance fee; paid hourly parking at both beach parks (checked Sep 27, 2026)

Blind Pass is the narrow tidal cut between Sanibel and Captiva, spanned by a short bridge on Sanibel-Captiva Road, and its fast water, rock jetty and mangrove backwaters make it one of the islands' best shore spots. Snook are the main event, working the current and the rocks at dawn and dusk from spring to fall, with mangrove snapper, redfish, sheepshead, trout and summer tarpon also caught. Fish the moving tide, especially the outgoing, from the beaches and the pass edges on either side. Both beach parks are open 24 hours with paid parking by the hour: the city's small Blind Pass lot on the Sanibel side and Turner Beach on the Captiva side, which reopened in April 2025 and has the restrooms. Current in the pass is strong; swimming is not allowed on the Sanibel side and you should not wade it.
