The Pines is a small state boat launch on the Bon Secour Bay side of Fort Morgan Road, about 12 miles west of Highway 59, where a single ramp and courtesy dock sit beside an open stretch of bay shore. The Marine Resources Division lists it as a public saltwater fishing access with one rule: fish more than 100 feet from the ramp. Cast or wade from the shore for speckled trout, redfish and flounder over the shallow sandy bottom, with white trout, croakers and black drum on bottom rigs and sheepshead around the rocky stretches in the cooler months. Bon Secour Bay is brackish and often stained, so the catch shifts with rain, river flow and wind far more than with its small daily tide. Parking is a handful of roadside spaces with no restrooms or lights, and the highway runs right behind the shore.
