Best fishing spots in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg has shore fishing on every side, from downtown piers to backwater creeks and the beaches along the barrier islands. St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck sits just a mile and a half from downtown, holding Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and mangrove snapper. Skyway Fishing Pier North, under 9 miles away, ranks among the very best spots in the area for Spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper and tarpon.

Clam Bayou Nature Park gives backwater anglers a shot at snook and redfish about 3.5 miles out, and the Blind Pass Jetty at Upham Beach is 7 miles away for snook, redfish and spotted seatrout. Sunset Beach on Treasure Island, just past 7 miles out, rounds things out with snook, pompano and Spanish mackerel in the surf.
