St. Pete Pier Fishing Deck sits just a mile and a half from downtown, holding Spanish mackerel, ladyfish and mangrove snapper. Skyway Fishing Pier North, under 9 miles away, ranks among the very best spots in the area for Spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper and tarpon.
Clam Bayou Nature Park gives backwater anglers a shot at snook and redfish about 3.5 miles out, and the Blind Pass Jetty at Upham Beach is 7 miles away for snook, redfish and spotted seatrout. Sunset Beach on Treasure Island, just past 7 miles out, rounds things out with snook, pompano and Spanish mackerel in the surf.
